Hello, I am Sriya. Today I will be differentiating between the reaction of the postmaster in the story ‘The Postmaster’ to Ratan and the reaction of the Kabuliwala in the story ‘The Kabuliwala’ to Mini. 

Firstly, the postmaster was leaving because he could not resist living in a city as he was city-bred. Before he left, Ratan asked if she could go with him. Without even thinking that it would hurt her, the postmaster simply said how she could. Anyone would burst into tears in such a situation, especially a little child like Ratan. 

On the other hand, the Kabuliwala has acted in quite the opposite way. He didn’t act badly to Mini. The Kabuliwala cracked good jokes to make Mini laugh.

Both these texts are similar as these texts have been written by the same author, Rabindranath Tagore. 

Both the stories have different endings. In the story of The Postmaster, Ratan and the postmaster was separated and in the ending of the story of The Kabuliwala, Mini and Kabuliwala were separated but were together again although Mini couldn’t remember the Kabuliwala. 

Both the protagonists missed somebody like the Kabuliwala missed his daughter and the postmaster missed his family.
